The regular meeting of the Macomb Lions Club was held on September 7, 2012. Members gathered in the dining room of the Grand Prairie Home with those members in attendance as shown on the Attendance Record and Guest Register. Transcribed below is what happened at the meeting:

Lead in the Pledge of Allegiance – President Entwistle
Prayer – Lion Battin
Program –- Dr. Gil Belles – McDonough County Historical Society (Emphasis on Cemetery identification and restoration). Gil became president of society in 2006. Signage project had started but stalled so Gill started it up again. Found about 110 cemeteries in the county. They have put new signs on 95 of them. The priority now has become the restoration of the old Macomb Cemetery (at West Adams and Wigwam Hollow). They have raised funds and applied for grants. They have filled in an old drive. Fenced 2 sides with new decorative fencing and will work on the rest to be sort of a parking area and park.

2. . Committee Reports -
Candy Days – Lion Graham. Phase l will be underwriting and Phase ll will be the giveaway at the local businesses. We usually raise about $5,000 with 60% going to the Lions of Illinois Foundation. Giveaway dates are October 5th and 6th. We will also be at Macomb High on the evening of the 5th for their home football game. We still need people to sign up for the giveaway.
Rose Sale – October 19th and 20th will be delivery dates. President Entwistle gave out the order forms so we could start taking orders. We will sell the roses for $18/dozen. Orders should be prepaid and due to President Entwistle by October 4th.
Fund Raising – Lion Dewitt - Macomb Lions Day at Buffalo Wild Wings. On November 14th from 4 to 9 pm, BWW will donate to the Macomb Lions 10% of food purchases made when coupon is presented. Lion Dewitt will bring the coupons for us to give out.
Lion Lueck – Found out art will not be taught this year until January so we probably will not have an entry into the Peace Poster Contest. Lion Dewitt talked about Food for Thought Project. Need individuals from 3:30 to 5:30 to read, etc. to assist students.
Lion Carter – Community Service Ramp was built for about $110. 15 service hours. Would like to look at community service being required to maintain membership.
Lion Keudell – Publicity Publicity Committee is meeting the 1st Tuesday of the month and will continue to get articles in the paper. Assignments to each committee member have been made and events will be covered.
3. Past President DeJaynes announced that Ponderosa will be the new meeting location starting with the 2nd meeting in October.
